Mesquite Senior Games Looks For The Teams Behind The Teams

The Progress

A group of Mesquite Senior Games volunteers work well together and have a good time at a recent Track and Field event.

The Mesquite Senior Games (MSG) organization is looking to build a volunteer dream team as it prepares for its 2021 Fall Season. The organization is in the process of expanding with the addition of new programs and events to its lineup. And community volunteers is what makes all that possible.

“The real support and driving force behind this nonprofit are the volunteer team members that give their time and expertise,” said Mesquite Senior Games Director Amy Bradshaw. “Without our volunteer team members, Mesquite Senior Games could not exist.”

Bradshaw said that the success of the MSG organization has always been plugged in directly to the strong community support it has received.
“Aristotle had it right when he said ‘the whole is greater than the sum of the parts’,” Bradshaw said.

“Individuals come together with different skills and qualities. When they are combined, it results in something better than the individual parts. That is precisely what makes Mesquite Senior Games successful at offering quality athletic competitions for people 50 and better.”

MSG is a very volunteer-friendly group. Volunteers may become as engaged as they want, opting to work from just a few hours a year to several hours per week.

“Our need is especially great in the spring months of March and April, and the fall months of October and November,” Bradshaw said. “That is when we run most of our games. It is a fun way to be involved. Just let us know what days, hours and type of activity you are interested in and we will find a way for you to be a valued part of Mesquite Senior Gamves.”

Volunteer team members may perform any of a variety of tasks depending on their interests, talents, expertise and physical limitations. These could range from registration and check-in, staging events, setting up equipment, serving lunches, scoring, timing, graphic arts, grant writing, merchandise sales and event directors.

For more information visit www.MesquiteSeniorGames.org and go to the Volunteer Page under the Get Involved tab.

“You can register there as a volunteer and tell us what you would like to do, when you’re available and any physical limitations you may have,” Bradshaw said.
