Mesquite Police Detectives Arrest Drug Dealer

Steve Harry Yost

On October 18th at approximately 8:30 p.m., Mesquite Police Detectives concluded an ongoing investigation involving a drug dealer who made multiple sales of dangerous crystal methamphetamines from various locations within Mesquite.

Detectives were able to safely take the suspect into custody following a traffic stop on his vehicle. A highly trained and certified drug sniffing K9 was deployed and alerted to the scent of illegal drugs inside the vehicle at the time of his arrest. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, detectives recovered 3.38 ounces of methamphetamine from a hidden compartment and multiple items of drug paraphernalia.

Steve Harry Yost, 62, of Mesquite, NV was arrested and charged with three felony counts of sales of methamphetamine, felony high-level trafficking of methamphetamine, felony mid-level trafficking of methamphetamine, felony high-level possession of methamphetamine, felony transporting methamphetamine, felony possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, felony possession of a controlled substance, and five misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Due to the felony charges, Yost was transported to the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Chief MaQuade Chesley stated “I applaud the many hours Mesquite detectives have dedicated to getting this dangerous and extremely addictive illicit drug out of Mesquite. Illegal drugs are often the reason behind many other crimes, so as we fight the drug problem we are also fighting to reduce all crime in Mesquite and keeping this a safe city we can all enjoy.”

  2. Impressive! Great job MPD! Low-life’s like this evil old man will think twice before trying to sell any amount of meth or any other drug in Mesquite. This was a big bust 28.3 grams/oz. This whole town would have been affected. Great work!

    1. That’s what I’ve been trying to say about the way all the things you all got to say. Wanna know something about you people I think you are doing something wrong with mesquite. Noticed Deb on how well she know the amount and how well and sure it would likely be enough for mesquite to get effected .I told everyone my wife and I got shot by a policeman out there instead of handling situation in perfectly experienced and easy way instead with out hesitant to make such a poor choice and make sure after am down to break the rule ,and get in deep water with the doj he sacrifice his career to be a successful looser he will and so will the instigator gills family . They went on his side to kiss ass because they are so much in trouble for the acts they committed. And to fo on the News and say and act as I f he was a great job with the swings he was committing battery on me a innocent man whom was the first to walk and stand next to me and act as a referee. And I suddenly turned to and notice that I was out numbered not the cop his intentions was too fight with a girl that was so obvious. This is more if a personal matter with walmart since we returned from Xmas presents and thought we would steal so they search the purse stole the money and took away from us pain and suffering from t hem.. so yes I agree stop being judgemental because Jesus once said that the one who is without sin of say sort shall pick up a roll with their ..own 6
