The Wolf Creek Golf Club parking lot was bustling with activity on Sunday, Jan. 9 as participants in the Kids for Sports Golf Tournament Fundraiser arrived for the seventh annual charity event.

Kids for Sports is a non-profit organization that helps needy kids with funds to pay expenses and purchase the equipment needed to participate in sports. These can include shoes, protective equipment, uniforms, physical examinations and everything else for which players and their families much foot the bill. Many local kids may not be to afford to play if not for this program.

The tournament was an 18-hole team scramble. There were 31½ teams participating.
The Overall winning team was Matt Dardanes Seek Casey Show and Tylor Whetton.
The Mixed Team winners were Tamara and Bob Schneider, Penne and West Johnson.
Ladies Team winners were Cheryll Lawson, Ina Bune, Jodie Parker, Tina Litschutz.

The Mesquite Magic Youth Basketball Team worked the holes selling 50-50 tickets. They made $1053 in their effort. The proceeds were split between the charity and the 50/50 winner Josh Herman.

Board member Sandra Ramaker reported that the event was a success. “We made $6351 just in selling raffle tickets, Mulligans and Strings,” Ramaker said.

The total made from entry fees and other sources was unavailable at The Progress press deadline.
Donated raffle prizes sat on a very long table and drew a lot of attention from participants. There were many other unique gifts.

Participant Sue Curro said of her and her spouse, “We are educators, so we participate in many events that are helping the children. Kids for Sports is special, they are always so organized and make things so pleasurable.”

John Hines came out from Las Vegas with his three friends to support the Kids for Sports program. “I love this course,” Hines said of Wolf Creek.

Ramaker expressed gratitude to the organization’s major sponsors including Eagles Landing, Washington Federal Bank, Wolf Creek Golf Club and all the participants and volunteers.

The next Kids for Sports event will be the Wine Festival which will held later this year in October.
