Frederic A. Davison, Jr.

Frederic A. Davison, Jr., a resident of Mesquite, NV since 2004, died February 8, 2022 at Mesa Valley Estates Assisted Living, with his family by his side. He was born September 4, 1933, in Bellwood, Illinois to Fred A. Davison, Sr. and Lillian Mills Davison.
Following graduation from York Community High School in Elmhurst, Illinois, Fred attended University of Arizona in Tucson, AZ, where he graduated with the class of 1955. He was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi Honorary and The National Society of Scabbard and Blade.
After graduation, Fred served in the United States Army, 1st Armored Division, from which he was honorably discharged with the rank of First Lieutenant. Upon completion of military service, he began a 34-year career with Mobil Oil Corporation. He started with Mobil in Chicago, IL, and worked in various cities including Milwaukee and Madison, WI, Kansas City, KS, New York City and Syracuse, NY, and Los Angeles, CA, where he ended his career in 1992.
Following retirement, he was actively involved with Hospice In The Home. An avid golfer, he very much enjoyed his membership in Oakmont Country Club, Glendale, CA, where he served on several committees and the Board of Directors. He enjoyed traveling, an active social life and was a lifelong Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.
In 2004, Fred moved to Mesquite and, in spite of working and living in big cities most of his life, he loved the small-town atmosphere. He never knew a stranger, and loved visiting and talking with people. His love for golf led him to happily volunteer many times to help with the World Long Drive Championship events which were held in Mesquite for a number of years. He golfed Mesquite’s various courses often with a group of his Sunset Greens neighbors and friends.
He became an active member of the Mesquite United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed the Mens’ Association, serving on committees, and volunteering whenever and wherever help was needed with any church activity. He was also a member of the local Elks Lodge #2811 and attended many of their functions and sponsored events. He greatly appreciated their support of activities for veterans and youth.
Fred is survived by three children: Debora Ann Murray of Thatcher, AZ, Frederic (Rick) A. Davison, III of Meridian, ID, and Kyle C. (Jo ann)Davison of Mesquite, NV; two grandchildren: Rachel (Jason) Camp of Thatcher, AZ and Parker Davison of Meridian, ID; a great-grandson, Rowan Camp of Thatcher, AZ; and he is also survived by his long-time companion and significant other, Jean Burdett of Mesquite, NV. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Dorothy, and brother John.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mesquite United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, any donations should be made to the Mesquite United Methodist Church, 420 West Pioneer Blvd, Mesquite, NV 89027.
