The Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce held its monthly general membership meeting on Wed., Sept. 21. Attendees were pleased to hear from three different speakers who presented about how to promote their business, as well as information on upcoming events.

First to speak was Dustin Berg, owner of Mesquite Branding & Design Co. Berg started his company in 2020 after moving to Mesquite from Yakima, Washington. He has over 15 years experience in marketing. His services include web design, video, photography, graphic & logo design, as well as social media and digital marketing.

Berg explained that branding is part of a company’s mission statement, to target a specific demographic.
“How can you help get me more online visits?” asked Kuppa Joe owner Bernie Conrique.
Berg replied, “I can help get you to the top of Google search and help to optimize your profile.”

Berg explained that he is Google certified and has helped hundreds of customers with their individual needs for digital marketing.

The key to branding is consistency, which creates trust with customers, Berg added.
“My goal is to focus on local small businesses and have an in-person relationship with those customers,” he said.

Next to speak was Vanette Christensen of Xtreme Stitch. She gave a updates on the upcoming Car and Motorcycle show to be held Saturday, October 15, beginning at 8 a.m. To start off the event, the VFW will have a color guard, and attendees will recite the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem.

Christensen said they had about 90 vehicles participate in last year’s event and hope to have well over 100 this year.
“The car show will be held at the Overton Park,” she added. “But due to the growing size of the event, we have already reserved the Clark County Fairgrounds for next year.”

Food trucks are already lined up for the day, as well as many vendors, but there is still time to have a vendor booth at the event.

Christensen also mentioned the need for businesses to donate raffle prizes. The chamber is also seeking volunteers to help on the day of the event, she said.

For more information about this event, visit www.moapavalleychamber.com. Donated raffle prizes can be dropped off at Washington Federal, Clea’s Moapa Valley Realty Logandale office, or Xtreme Stitch in Overton.

Last to speak was Darcy Bushman, current Commander of VFW Post 8336. Bushman spoke to chamber members about upcoming VFW events including OctoberFest and the Veteran’s Day parade.

On Saturday, October 15 at 4-9pm, the Post will be hosting an OctoberFest German Festival, which will include music, dancing, food and fun.

The big community event of the year will be the annual Veteran’s Day Parade, to be held on Friday, November 11. “We already have three military/ROTC schools lined up for this year, and we hope it will be the best parade yet!” Bushman said.

Anyone can enter a ‘float’ to be in the parade, but participants must fill out an application. There is no fee. The cutoff to submit applications will be November 3. Volunteers are also needed that morning to help with security and sign-ins.

Applications and information about the parade can be found at www.moapavalleychamber.com. Information about the VFW Post 8336 can be found at www.vfw8336.org, or by calling Darcy Bushman at 702-423-5374.
