Patricia ‘Pat’ Hall Hartey

Patricia Hall Hartey tap-danced her way into Heaven on November 18, 2022, when she passed away peacefully at her home in Mesquite, Nevada, with family by her side. Pat died of complications from Covid and Alzheimer’s 11 days after her 86th birthday.

The fifth child and third daughter of six children, Pat was born to Annie McAllister Sullivan and Rouse Adair Hall on November 7, 1936, at the Dee Hospital in Ogden, Utah.

Pat moved from Roy, Utah to Mesquite in 2002 with her sweetheart of 40 years, Parry Taylor. She joined the Mesquite Toes Tap Dancing Team when she was 69 years old, and danced into her 80s. She performed with the team at Madison Square Garden, on the Rockettes stage in New York City, on cruise ships and at the Mesquite Community Theater. Being a dancer was one of her dreams and great joys in life.

A true farmgirl, Pat spent her childhood summers picking bushels of pears, peaches, apples and cherries on the family orchard in Roy.

As a teenager, she worked at the Roy Movie Theater, walking from 4300 South to 5600 South because “who wants to ride your bike uphill both ways?”

Pat graduated from Weber High School and later earned an accounting degree from Stevens Henager College. She married Judd Glissmeyer in 1955 and they had four children. The two later divorced. While married, she worked as bookkeeper at Glissmeyer’s OK Tire Store in Ogden, Utah.

Pat was a modern woman before her time, working two jobs and raising her children as a single mother with the help of close family. She was a fun, active and loving mother who provided abundantly for her kids.

She forged a career at the Ogden Internal Revenue Service where she worked for 30 years, moving from mailroom clerk, to data entry, accounting, and finally to the Management Support Branch. She spent many years as a witness for the IRS Criminal Investigation Unit, traveling the United States, working in Washington D.C., and at the Bank of America as IRS Lockbox Coordinator in San Francisco. When she retired in 1998, her name was displayed on the scoreboard at Candle Stick Park, thanking her for her many years of service.

Pat enjoyed helping plan the annual Hall family reunion in the Ogden Mountains, visiting with her siblings, children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews of all generations. She made each one feel that they were the special one she came to see. She was a trusted confidant and a compassionate listener.

Pat radiated love with her bright smile and blue eyes that sparkled when she pulled you in for a hug.
She met the love of her life, Parry Taylor, in 1983 in Utah. The two enjoyed hosting family and friends at their home in Roy for cookouts, swimming, and Christmas parties full of wacky games and quirky gifts.
Their shared love of golf led them to Mesquite, where they have lived for the past 20 years, making numerous cherished friends, especially those she exercised and dined with at the Mesquite Senior Center.

Pat loved singing her children and grandchildren to sleep. She also enjoyed playing the piano, with some of her favorite songs being Yesterday by The Beatles, Don’t Fence Me In by Roy Rogers/The Sons of the Pioneers, I Did It My Way by Frank Sinatra, and Somewhere Over the Rainbow by Judy Garland.
Pat was known for her infectious laughter. She faced life’s obstacles with grace and humor while tackling breast cancer, lymphoma, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Her favorite Bible quote was “And it came to pass” because she said, “The hard times never come to stay.” Her light will console those who knew her and stay with them throughout their lifetimes. She will be missed.

She is survived by her sister Reva Thomsen, and brother David Hall; her children: Kelly (Cathy) Glissmeyer, Kim (RIck) Lamoreaux, Karen (Barron) Kelley, and Kristi Glissmeyer Valdez; her step-children: Robyn Simmons, Dean (Margie) Taylor, Zachary Taylor, and a special step-daughter Marie Taylor; 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Elwyn & Richard Hall, and her sister Helen Jensen.

Close friends and family are invited to a graveside service at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the Mesquite Cemetery, 301 Hillside Drive, Mesquite, Nevada.
