The Progress

The public is invited to attend a “Bells Across America” ceremony put on by the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) on Sunday, September 17, at 12:30 pm at the Veterans Memorial Park in Mesquite.

The short ceremony will commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution. Vicki Clift, Regent of the Virgin Valley DAR Chapter will be welcoming the community members.
Mayor Al Litman and Veteran Robert Nehilla will be speaking at the ceremony.
The Mesquite Veterans Honor Guard will be posting the colors.

At precisely 1 pm Pacific time, those in attendance will participate, along with Americans in communities all across the country, in ringing the bells. It was at this time on Sept. 17, 1787, that the signers of the U.S. Constitution used a quill pen and ink to sign this significant document.

Bells will be available at the event for a donation to the DAR Chapter. Or participants may bring their own bells.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a lawn chair for the program.
