Virgin Valley High School’s prom theme this year was “Star Wars,” which was a new and inventive theme that Virgin Valley had never seen before. The student council made sure all the students and staff got involved and had a fun-filled week, from unique dress-up days to fun daily activities.

The week had a welcome start, with a day off for all the students on Monday.

Tuesday was dress-up day, with the theme of “I Am Your Father,” aka “BBQ Dad vs. Soccer Mom.” The students dressed up as either a dad grilling or a mom chilling. This got a lot of students involved. That evening, there was a movie night where students watched “Guardians of the Galaxy.”

Wednesday was “Droid Day” or “Anything but a Backpack Day.” Students were encouraged to bring their school supplies with them in an unusual way. Some students brought shopping carts, wheelbarrows or even fishing nets. That evening the boys played a volleyball game against Moapa and came out on top.

Thursday was “Galaxy Glitz,” aka “Neon Out.” The hallways were vibrant that day and brought some necessary brightness to the school. The spring band concert was held that day, and the band did an amazing job.

Friday was Wookie Warriors, aka “Squad Day.” This was also the day of the Great Race, which happens every year around prom season. There were around six teams, and they all participated in various activities, such as a watermelon-eating contest, a three-legged race and many others.

Saturday was the day of the big dance. It took place at the CasaBlanca from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. When asked about the dance, Audrey Fiso said, “Prom was so fun! It was the best last dance a senior could ask for, and I’m grateful that CasaBlanca always treats our school well!”
