The first meeting of the Virgin Valley Writers (formerly Virgin Valley Fellowship of Writers) took place at Starbucks (next to Walmart) on Wednesday, July 9.
Summer Wilson, the president of the group, is excited by its reactivation. “This is a multimedia group,” she explained. “We have interests in screenplays, poetry, fiction, blogs, as well as memoirs.”

Writers of all skill levels are welcome. The members are supportive of one another and offer positive encouragement.
Craig Petersen, an active member of the Toastmasters and Rotary Club, shared his early blog entries. He discussed how therapeutic writing was for him.
“It isn’t for monetary purposes,” he said. “It’s important that my story gets told.”
Wilson shared portions of her upcoming book. Another member read an essay that will be submitted to Steve Dudrow for a radio broadcast.
A few future members were unable to attend as they were out of town. However, they expressed a desire to be a part of the group.
It meets at the Women’s History and Culture Center on the second Wednesday of the month at 11 a.m. Please contact Summer Wilson with any questions at (702) 225-7522.
