Mesa Valley Estates celebrated National Assisted Living Week with a vibrant lineup of themed activities, dress-up days and special events, all inspired by this year’s theme: “Ageless Adventure.”

Each day of the week brought residents, team members and families together to celebrate the spirit of adventure, connection and lifelong joy.

Sunday: The week kicked off with “A Blast to the Past,” featuring a “Guess Who” game using childhood photos of residents and team members.

Monday: “Safari” attire set the tone for an adventurous day, complete with a virtual slideshow tour of India.

Tuesday: “Tropical Tuesday” brightened spirits as Hawaiian shirts and island tunes filled the community.

Wednesday: Residents sported their favorite “Animal Print for a Global Scavenger Hunt,” followed by a fascinating travel presentation by Dave Boyarski, showcasing his photography from Ecuador and the Galápagos Islands.

Thursday: “Throwback Thursday” encouraged everyone to dress from their favorite era. The day also included a resident-led ice cream social to show appreciation for team members, and a heartfelt 9/11 Memorial Service led by Mike Benham.

Friday: The celebration wrapped up with “Fancy Friday,” where residents dressed to impress and enjoyed a field trip to the Donkey Museum.

The dining team at Mesa Valley went the extra mile to make the week even more special by creating themed meals each day to complement the daily adventure.

“We’ve had an absolute blast celebrating National Assisted Living Week and taking our residents on incredible adventures, said Alyssa Plant, director of life enrichment for Mesa Valley Estates. “From revisiting the past and going on virtual trips to fun dress-up days and delicious culinary adventures, we’ve been so blessed to be able to bring ‘Ageless Adventures’ to life and see it thrive within our community and be reflected through our mission of caring people, serving people, and improving lives.”

National Assisted Living Week is held every September and was established by the National Center for Assisted Living in 1995. The annual event starts on Grandparents Day, or the first Sunday after Labor Day, and recognizes the role of assisted living in caring for seniors and people with disabilities.
