Moapa Valley saw a couple of incidents occur last week, including an enforcement of a warrant involving the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department SWAT team and an unfortunate drowning incident.
Last Thursday, at approximately 5 p.m., a property on the corner of Ash Street and Pirate Avenue was swarmed by LVMPD officers and SWAT. The house owner was taken into custody and detained while a search of the property was performed. LVMPD Sgt. Keegan Doty said he could not release much information as it is an open investigation. He did confirm that it involved a joint investigation with the Missing Persons Division. Witnesses have seen the property owner back at his property, and it was confirmed he was interviewed and released. The identity of the property owner was not released.
Later that night, at Palm Creek Ranch in Moapa, an emergency medical call was responded to by Moapa Valley Fire District and LVMPD. An adult male had gone underwater and not resurfaced. The individual was found to be deceased at the scene. Doty stated that the incident occurred at about 8 p.m. The victim was found to be a local Moapa Valley resident, and his identity has not been released as it remains an open investigation, pending the results of the Clark County Coroner’s Office. Doty said there is nothing suspicious about the incident, but they are waiting for official confirmation of cause of death until the results from the coroner are released.
