On Oct. 14th, Nevada FFA state officers Maximillian Bushey and Liam Few visited Bunkerville for the Greenhand Conference, where they taught first-year agriculture students the importance of FFA and how it can leave a mark in their lives.
“Agriculture is a big part of our whole economy. Not only that, but it helps people connect to each other, and we have so many jobs we can go into; it’s a wide industry,” said Joy Son, a ninth grader from Virgin Valley High School.

Students learned how to connect with others outside their school, work together in group settings by partaking in fun team challenges and use the leadership and communication skills they will be exercising in their Career and Leadership Development Events in March at the 98th Nevada State FFA Convention. This year’s convention theme is “Writing the Next Chapter,” and at the Greenhand Conference, first-year students learned the basics of what this theme means to the organization and how they can make a difference and write their own chapter.
