Mesquite Entertainment is hosting its first annual Duck Derby to raise funds for the Warrior Women of Mesquite, who support local area residents affected by cancer. This fundraiser will be held at the CasaBlanca pool on Saturday, Oct. 25 from noon to 2 p.m.
Justin Moore, CEO of Mesquite Entertainment, came up with the idea of having a Duck Derby, using the analogy of how water rolls off a duck’s back, leaving the duck to just go about its life.
This event promises to be an afternoon of fun, while offering opportunities to win prizes. The first three prizes range from $1,000 to $400. The fourth prize is a Katherine’s Basket, and the fifth is a Family Fun Basket. Note: You do not need to be present to win.
Jami Taylor, community engagement manager of Mesquite Entertainment, was creative with engineering the duck race. The ducks will float over a waterfall, which will give them the needed push to reach the finish line. There will be four initial heats of races, with the first five ducks over the finish line to then compete in a fifth and final heat for the prizes.
The Warrior Women of Mesquite, Nevada, provides a platform for cancer advocacy, support and community. Their services range from emotional support and financial assistance, along with additional cancer resources.
Tickets may be purchased at the gift shops at CasaBlanca and Virgin River Casinos and at CasaBlanca and Palms Golf Course Pro Shops, or contact Warrior Women of Mesquite, Nevada, at (702) 500-9906. Ducks are $20 each or six for $100. All proceeds benefit the Warrior Women of Mesquite, Nevada. The event is free to attend.
Please contact Jami Taylor at (702) 346-4000, ext. 4049, with questions.

Thanks, Terri! I couldn’t have done this alone. Thanks to a great team effort from the executive, hotel pool, engineering, purchasing, human resources, banquets, and marketing departments, we ran some tests together and found the perfect solution together!
