The Mesquite Police Department expressed its thanks to the Coyote Willows subdivision, which put on a full blue light display to show their support for the police.
“In my 10 months serving as chief of police, I have been deeply moved by the outpouring of support from this community. Seeing these blue lights shining bright each night is a powerful reminder of the partnership and trust we share with the citizens of Mesquite,” Interim Chief Tracy Fails said.
He added that on behalf of the department, he thanked everyone who stands with them.
Mesquite Police also released their weekly report, with 20 arrests. There was a significant increase in violation of park curfew hours arrests and a squatting arrest (breaking in and staying in another’s house or place). There were two domestic violence arrests, three theft/burglary arrests and four drug/alcohol possession or DUI arrests.
Beaver Dam/Littlefield Fire Department issued a statement of thanks to all those who came out for their local Trunk or Treat. They also expressed gratitude to the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office for helping host.
They reported a four-car pileup within the Virgin Gorge on Sunday night. It resulted in a couple of hours’ backup and closure of lanes at milepost 22’s northbound lanes. Speed was a factor in the accident.
Nevada Highway Patrol responded to a personal injury crash at 4:04 p.m. at the location of northbound IR-15 and mile marker 75 (Valley of Fire Exit). This crash involved a Mercedes-Benz sprinter van that was pulling a 25-foot trailer. The van and trailer rolled over into the center median and then caught fire. The driver was able to exit the vehicle safely. There were no injuries or medical transport for this crash.
The drowning victim at Palm Creek Ranch in Moapa was identified as Mark Kephart, 53, of Moapa. Kephart worked at the ranch as general maintenance. The coroner’s report has not been released yet and is expected shortly. It remains an open case. Kephart’s girlfriend, Louise Osborne, said he was a loved person who always helped others. He was known around town as “Popeye” due to his looks. A follow-up article with more information and statements from loved ones will be published after the coroner’s report is released.
The Northeast Residential Substation of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reminded all people that new laws have been enacted concerning e-bikes and e-scooters.
