Moapa Valley High School’s Hope Squad celebrated Red Ribbon Week on Oct. 27-31 with a variety of engaging activities aimed at promoting drug-free living and positive choices. The week, filled with themed days and interactive events, culminated in an inspiring assembly hosted in partnership with Club America.
“We were excited to partner with Club America this year to host an assembly for the kids, one that inspires them to improve their lives, stay away from drugs and build a bright future for themselves,” said Hope Squad advisor Tricia Wickersham. “It’s been such a fun and rewarding experience as a new advisor, working with these students to create an incredible week filled with positivity and hope.”

The week kicked off Monday with Hope Squad members handing out Dum-Dums candies to remind students “Don’t be dumb! Stay drug free.” Members also shared information about the upcoming events planned throughout the week.
Tuesday featured Extreme Red Day, where students showed their school spirit and commitment to a drug-free lifestyle by dressing in red. During the nutrition break, students signed a pledge to remain drug free.
The highlight of the week came Wednesday with the assembly organized by Club America. The event featured motivational speaker Anthony Watson, who inspired students to overcome challenges and make positive choices. Watson’s visit supported the mission of Club America, a new program at Moapa Valley High School dedicated to empowering students to build real-world skills, challenge negative narratives and lead with purpose.
On Thursday, the theme was “Don’t Sleep Your Life Away,” and students came to school dressed in pajamas as a reminder to stay awake and engaged in pursuing their goals.
Through their creative activities and powerful partnerships, Hope Squad and Club America successfully encouraged the Moapa Valley High School community to live drug-free and strive toward a brighter future.
