Moapa Valley residents lined the streets of downtown Overton on Tuesday, Nov. 11, to remember and honor all the men and women who have served or are currently serving in the branches of the United States military. The parade theme was, “We Will Remember Them.” The parade was held on Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, and began at 11:11 a.m.
Veterans Day is celebrated in the United States every year at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. It marked the beginning of the end of World War I with a cessation of hostilities on the Western Front. The annual parade brings together community members and neighbors in a meaningful show of gratitude and recognition for the sacrifices made for all of us.

Enjoying nice seasonal temperatures, families gathered along Moapa Valley Boulevard, from the library to Lin’s, waving flags and cheering as the parade made its way through town. The parade was sponsored by the local VFW Elwood Perkins Post 8336 and the grand marshal was Dr. Larry Moses.
The celebration commenced with flyovers by dual airplanes and the LVMPD Search and Rescue helicopter. The Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy JROTC Color Guard led out, with parade dignitaries being escorted by the local fire and police departments. They were followed by 61 entrants representing local businesses, schools, dance and cheerleading teams and community interests. The US Army was represented by the JROTC teams from Veterans Tribute Career and Technical Academy and Cheyenne High School in Las Vegas. The participants on each float tossed candy, hats, Frisbees and other items to the gathered crowds.

For the second year, Phil and Agnieszka Anna Mullins organized the event. Agnieszka said, “We are thrilled with the turnout at today’s parade. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the participants and the community for your support of the veterans of Moapa Valley. This year’s parade was a huge success. We hope to make the 2026 parade even bigger!” Special recognition was given to the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, Moapa Valley Rotary, Rick Houston, Penny Vallone, Darcy Bushman, Carol Bishop, Jesse Jensen, Muddy River Irrigation, Biker Bob and the VFW Auxiliary.
Following the parade, residents gathered at the Overton Park for a complimentary lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs provided by the Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce, cooked by the Moapa Valley Rotary and served by the Moapa Valley High School FFA. As the crowd dispersed, several attendees said the event was a reminder of the importance of honoring service and preserving the tradition for future generations.
