Oasis Women’s Golf Association hosts tournament

November 25, 2025 by Terri Fitzsimmons Leave a Comment

The Oasis Women’s Golf Association (OWGA) hosted its annual charity golf tournament on Sunday, Nov. 16. This marked the 14th year they have held this tournament to support the Mesquite Cancer Help Society. This worthwhile event had 124 participants, raising monies for local cancer patients and their families.

Allison Webb and Vicki Bishop work diligently to make these events successful. Webb started the fundraiser for Mesquite Cancer Help Society when she realized that Mesquite was not benefitting from the other fundraisers in Clark County. It was Judy Cole White who shared information about the Cancer Society. Webb pointed to the numerous raffle prizes. “The Golf Association donated all these,” she said. “And all of our volunteers helped wrap them and put them on display. Last year we raised $25,300.”

Their volunteers worked hard to sell all the raffle tickets, and the golfers were enthusiastic about participating in the fundraiser. Comments ranged from “This is such a great cause” to “It’s too bad that it is necessary” and “I love that the monies stay in Mesquite.”

Brian Bergman has been involved “since day one,” he proudly stated. His homemade pies at the live auction every year are a big hit, sometimes bringing in as much as $500.

Kelly and Kevin Conlin came in first in Flight 1. The winners of Flight 2 were Douglas and Theresa Eastman. Dave and Julie Pershing won Flight 3, while Michelle and James Inglis won Flight 4.

The golfers met in the restaurant, where they had a sumptuous lunch while finding out who won the raffle.

The money will go directly to providing transportation to treatment, covering emergency utility bills for patients undergoing chemotherapy and funding vital support group services.

Once again, the OWGA came through for the Mesquite Cancer Help Society. With the help of the many volunteers and leadership, this fundraiser was a huge success!
