True Value Home Hardware is celebrating 40 years doing business as part of the local small business community. Originally opened in 1985 by Heber Tobler, the store at 387 S. Moapa Valley Blvd. in Overton has been operated by three generations of local family members. Brothers Randy and Roger Tobler are now the co-owners, and grandson, Brock, is the store manager. They also have a second store location in Boulder City.
“We are proud to be local community members and are here to help by offering expert advice, tools, equipment and products you will need to accomplish any professional or DIY project,” said Randy.

The store offers many departments and services. With limited shopping available in the community, True Value offers merchandise not generally found in a hardware store. Along with the usual large animal feed, garden and home repair supplies, building materials, hardware, paint and tools, they also provide a wide selection of pet and office supplies, toys, gifts and collectables. They are proud to be the official local dealer of Stihl power tools. They are hoping to bring back sales of E-bikes and GoKarts.
Another Tobler family member, sister Shirley Solomon maintains a well-stocked craft department and quilt shop in the back of the store. She stocks a large variety of well-known fabric lines and quilt patterns and supplies. She has a devoted customer base from as far away as Cedar City.
Randy said, “We have a weekly truck delivery of merchandise from Do It Best and Orgill stores in Hurricane and will take special orders. We can order most anything found on a website, other than Ace brand.” The store also can do special orders of building supplies and offer lumber packages. “Our selection of live Christmas trees will arrive this week.”
Randy proudly displayed an award recently received from HBS Dealer Magazine, a trade magazine representing hardware stores nationwide. They have also been the recipients of a Top 50 Hardware Stores in the Nation award from Hardware Retailing.
Whether looking for construction materials for a home project, supplies for pets or expert advice on what kinds of plants thrive in a desert climate, the owners and staff at True Value are here to help. They are open Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
