The Outsiders Baseball Club 13U team shined in back-to-back tournament runs led by Coach Jake Rowley and Coach Stacie Stilson. The club is a talented travel team based out of St. George, Utah, consisting of players from across the region, including five from Mesquite, one from Moapa Valley and a few from Hurricane. Despite coming from different towns, this group has grown into a unified, hardworking team. Over the weekend of Oct. 17-18, the Outsiders entered the championship game with a record of 4-0 for the second consecutive tournament.

The Outsiders defeated Bombers Blue 13U, 9-2, by jumping ahead early with three runs in the first inning. Paxton Stilson doubled to right field, Cruz Macias and Ben Holman walked, and a passed ball brought in a run. Stilson later tagged up to score in the third, extending the lead, 5-2.

Mark Gilberg earned the win, allowing just three hits and two runs, while striking out four. James Plum closed things out in relief. At the plate, the Outsiders showed great discipline with six walks – Carlos and Cruz Macias each drawing two. The team was unstoppable on the basepaths, racking up 16 stolen bases, with Stilson, Plum, Carlos Macias, Gilberg and Cruz Macias all swiping multiple bags.

The Outsiders rolled past Hurricane 13U, 15-0. An explosive 11-run third inning powered the Outsiders, as Preston Melton, Dalton Barry, Jordan Martinez, Paxton Stilson, Joe Dominguez, Jace Seely and Ryan Hastert all drove in runs.

On the mound, Holman earned the win, throwing one perfect inning with a strikeout. Plum started, giving up just one hit in two shutout innings with four strikeouts. Dominguez led with three RBIs from the number eight spot. The team added 10 stolen bases and played flawless defense.

The Outsiders rode their momentum against HYPE Summit 13U into a 9-3 win. Seely earned the win, pitching six strong innings and striking out six while giving up just two hits. Offensively, Martinez, Stilson and Gilberg all had two hits. Martinez went 2-for-3 and drove in two runs.

The Outsiders dominated GBG Utah 2031 13U, 13-0. The Outsiders came out swinging again, jumping ahead in the first inning with a two-RBI single from Cruz Macias and an RBI double from Gilberg. They kept scoring runs in every inning, highlighted by a Hastert double, RBI groundouts from Owen Muir and Melton and a five-run inning featuring hits from Hastert, Melton and Barry. Melton earned the win, throwing four shutout innings with six strikeouts. Cruz Macias led the offense aggressively.

In the championship game, the Outsiders fell to HYPE Summit 13U, 14-5, despite a strong offensive showing. Cruz Macias stayed hot, going 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Hastert also collected two hits. Though the loss stung, it marked the second straight tournament the Outsiders went 4-0 heading into the championship game, a testament to their consistency and teamwork.
