Moapa Valley High School celebrated the winter season with its annual Winter Formal dance on Dec. 13 in the Old Gym. Organized by the school’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter, the event welcomed more than 200 students for an evening of music, dancing and festive decorations. DJ Bryan Linford provided the music throughout the night, keeping the dancefloor active from start to finish.
The Winter Formal followed MVHS’s “Winter Week,” a school-wide celebration planned by the student council that featured themed dressup days and activities leading up to the dance. Winter Week began on Monday, with Twin Day, encouraging students to dress alike with friends. Tuesday followed with Skiers vs. Skaters, allowing students to choose between winter sport styles. Wednesday was Camo Day, Thursday featured Meme Day, and the week concluded with Anything But a Backpack Day on Friday.

To match the theme, the main hall was decorated for the holidays, adding to the atmosphere throughout the week. Lights and decorations transformed the Old Gym into a winter-themed space for the evening. The dance officially began at 7 p.m. and concluded at 9 p.m., with a steady crowd in attendance throughout the night.
FFA advisor Walker Fowers said student involvement played a key role in the success of the event. “Our chapter sentinel, Macy Terrell, played a big part in working with me to order all of the decorations and planning the event,” Fowers said. “We had a good turnout, as expected. Thanks to everybody who helped me make this happen!”
The Winter Formal served as both a highlight of Winter Week and a chance for students to come together and celebrate the season before winter break.
