“Merry Christmas!” The cheer wrapped around residents and guests at Mesa Valley Estates on Dec. 12, setting the tone for a season filled with warmth and celebration. A beautiful red Chevrolet truck — straight out of a Hallmark movie — greeted visitors at the entrance, instantly getting everyone in the holiday spirit.

Mesa Valley Estates has been hosting a series of festive gatherings throughout November and December, and the Jingle & Mingle, held on Dec. 12, was truly one to remember. Friends and family gathered inside the assisted living community for an afternoon filled with music, laughter and Christmas cheer.

Live entertainment was provided by Mike Hitt, whose guitar playing and smooth vocals carried familiar Christmas favorites alongside classic country tunes. Songs like “Tennessee Christmas” had the crowd swaying, while Santa — who many joked looked a lot like “Daddy” — added a heartwarming touch of nostalgia.

Mr. and Mrs. Claus, dressed in fluffy red coats, filled the room with smiles and laughter as residents and guests sat on their laps for photos. Several residents happily shared what they hoped to receive for Christmas, and families were encouraged to bring children to meet Santa. The little ones arrived in their best holiday attire, eagerly whispering wishes and posing proudly for photos. Activities director Alyssa Plant collected email addresses so families could receive professional photographs capturing these special moments.

Families gathered around tables, sharing smiles, stories and quality time. Friends exchanged jokes and enjoyed easy conversation as the room filled with holiday spirit, playful personalities and the rare, cherished feeling of time slowing down.

One of the afternoon’s highlights was a hot cocoa bar. Chocolate-dipped, sprinkle-covered spoons melted into warm cups as guests stirred in cream and flavorings. Peppermint- and caramel-flavored coffees were served alongside a variety of treats and beautifully decorated Christmas sugar cookies. Dining director Sheri Searle spared no detail — this spread was certainly good enough for Santa himself on Christmas Eve.

With nearly 70 guests filling the dining room, the space felt like a cozy Christmas party overflowing with love, joy and cherished childhood memories — an afternoon that truly captured the heart of the season. Mesa Valley would like to thank the local community for always remembering that many of their residents don’t have family nearby. Christmas cheer is always welcomed, all year long.
