The Elks Lodge on Riverside Avenue in Mesquite was jam-packed with community members celebrating its grand opening. The parking lot was full and cars were parked along the streets. It was a festive occasion, with the attendees enjoying music from local band 3 Sheets to the Wind, made up of “H” Harvey, Todd Wolpert and Mark Holmstrand. To add to the festivities was the bar and a vast amount of food, including the BBQ meal, salads and desserts.

Mayor Jesse Whipple did the honors of cutting the ribbon. Eddy Lopez, a past exalted ruler, was given a plaque that acknowledged his contributions to the lodge. He was also given a set of golf clubs. Lopez thanked all who contributed to the expansion of the lodge.
The achievements of the Elks Club were mentioned, along with the monies raised, most of which go directly to the community.
Per an Elks Lodge report, “The Mesquite Elks Lodge #2811 significantly contributes to the Mesquite, NV, community through extensive youth, veteran, and local support, including funding for high school athletics (pole vault), Little League machines, holiday toy drives for hundreds of local children, providing transportation for veterans to VA hospitals, supporting Saint Jude’s Ranch, and hosting community events like Shop with a Cop, embodying their motto of ‘Elks Care and Elks Share’ with significant donations and volunteer hours.”
