Fusion, the premier song and dance team from Utah Tech University, entertained the audience at the senior center on Friday, Dec. 12. Dressed in red and green elf outfits, the performers started the program with favorite Christmas tunes including “Let it Snow,” “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Baby It’s Cold Outside” and “White Christmas.” The songs had dance steps and interactions between the performers to make the audience laugh. Their routines included tap dance, swing, hip hop and ballet choreography.
The group showed the joy of family when they sang “A Song in My Heart,” with the bass singer doing several solo sections. The students were very personable and interacted with the audience before each number, telling about their Christmas traditions. Nathan sang a very moving rendition of “Mary Did You Know?” in Spanish.

“Our mission is the kindness initiative, and we uplift through song and dance,” stated one of the performers as he introduced the “Season of Love.” “How can you measure a year in the 500,025,600 minutes in a year? It is measured in sunrises and sunsets and in love!”
“Candy Cane Lane” completed the program with singing, acrobatics and lively dance steps.
The 16 members of the team are led by Amy Gleave and were on their way to performances in Las Vegas and Disneyland. Gleave said the name “Fusion” was chosen “because they try to bring things together, to learn discipline and make connections with people. They believe in the magic of working together. The students don’t just leave after the performance but interact and visit with the audience. When they go to a school to perform, they talk to students about anti-bullying, suicide and how to show kindness.”
The group is part of the entertainment alliance at UTech. Students can receive a scholarship to the college. Fusion will have a year-end program at the Eccles Theater on the UTech campus on March 27-28, 2026.
