A local grassroots Mesquite art project called the Iron Cactus Golf Memorial has a mission to get 10 seven-foot-high memorials made from golf clubs placed around the city.
Volunteer project director Thomas Stark said, “What better way to memorialize Mesquite and the people that helped grow this little town than the risk-taking golf course founders and the golfers?”

Stark said, “We have a committee formed, approval from the arts commission and City Council. We have a sculpture and are looking into funding resources. Currently, we are looking for used golf clubs.”
Anyone wishing to donate can call Thomas Stark at 801-201-4653. He will pick up clubs, or you can drop them off at 485 Fairways Dr. Call for the gate code.
