Juniper Outpost to hold farewell sale

January 6, 2026 by Denise Houston Leave a Comment

A beloved fixture of the Mesquite arts scene is preparing for its final act. Juniper Outpost will officially close on Feb. 28 as its founding team prepares to move back to the Midwest. Since opening during the height of the pandemic in 2020, the shop has showcased more than 100 local artists, and the team invites the community to stop by throughout January and February to say goodbye and enjoy a final storewide sale.

Juniper Outpost has been many things during its time in Mesquite: a retail space, a creative hub and a welcoming place that helped connect artists with the community. As the artisan gift shop prepares for its next chapter, its founders reflect on a journey rooted in connection, creativity and small-town values.

The Juniper Outpost team first arrived in Mesquite in April 2020, relocating from the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area at the very beginning of the COVID-19 shutdowns. While opening a shop was not part of the original plan, the idea developed gradually as they became familiar with the community and recognized an opportunity to support local makers.

Juniper Outpost evolved into an artisan gift shop featuring the work of approximately 35 local creators at any given time. Over five years, more than 100 local artists and makers have had their work displayed and sold in the store. In addition to local goods, the shop offered carefully curated, small-batch items sourced from vendors who shared a similar handmade ethos.

The vision for Juniper Outpost came together organically, becoming a meaningful point of connection during a time when community engagement was especially difficult. The shop helped its founders integrate quickly into Mesquite life while also fostering personal and professional growth for those involved.

Juniper Outpost was made possible through the efforts of a dedicated team, each contributing unique skills and energy to the business:

Charlotte Sirianni – founder, head curator, operations manager, chief enthusiasm officer

Rhonda Lynch – senior marketing strategist, chief financial officer, head cheerleader

Lynn Brooks – artist program director, head jewelry honcho, chief merchandiser

Mary Jane Stiles – Facebook Live host, stylist, community event liaison

David Sirianni – sales, sand art expert, social media director, cheerleader

Beyond the shop, team members were active participants in the Mesquite community. David is employed by the PACT Coalition for a Drug-Free Southern Nevada, working with the Breaking the Cycle Program, and serves on the board of the Mesquite Opportunity Resource Fund (MORF). Charlotte has been an active Chamber of Commerce member and participated in several local groups, including Desert Dames, Bingo Babes, Business Big Sister and Tough Country Fitness Crew.

Among the most meaningful moments in the Juniper Outpost journey were experiences that underscored the value of recognizing local artists. One early artist associated with the shop passed away, and her family shared that being referred to as an artist by the Juniper Outpost community was a source of great pride for her.

Other notable moments included hosting a book launch and signing for Dustin Berg, author of “All Around Mesquite,” and collaborating with Donkey Dreams Sanctuary to sell a life-size portrait of Elsie the donkey, painted by Kanab artist Gail Alger and donated to benefit the sanctuary.

As the business looks toward the future, the Juniper Outpost team expressed gratitude to the Mesquite community for its warm welcome and continued support. They hope the concept inspires others to build something creative and community-centered, whether by continuing Juniper Outpost in a new form or creating something entirely new.

The founders are open to all possible outcomes, including the possibility of someone continuing the shop’s legacy. While there is no traditional business for sale beyond the name and concept, they hope the Juniper Outpost model will live on through others.

David, Charlotte and Rhonda will be returning to Minnesota, relocating to a town of approximately 25,000 residents about an hour south of the Twin Cities. The decision reflects a combination of health considerations, an expiring lease and the anticipation of welcoming another grandchild. Their time in Mesquite reinforced their appreciation for small-town living and the importance of strong community connections.

A storewide 40% off sale will run throughout January, excluding local artist pieces. In February, select fixtures and display items will be offered for sale. Community members are invited to stop by before the store’s closing.
