Per the Mesquite Library, readers of all ages will be able to “step into a world of enchantment with the fairytale-themed Winter Reading Challenge.” They can read anything they like for five hours during the month of January and receive an age-appropriate prize.
This program will run from Jan. 2-31, and readers can “explore the vast collection of fun and thought-provoking titles, from books, audiobooks and magazines, to graphic novels, poetry, comic books, and more.” This is a perfect time for residents to sign up for their library card.
On Jan. 25, the prismatic music light show, with the music of the band U2, will use real lasers on the library screens, ceiling and walls in a dazzling display. This program includes a bonus STEM interactive workshop after the 45-minute light show. The show begins at 1:15 p.m.
The program combines laser music videos, a lineup of the latest hit songs and fun and interactive carnival-themed laser games.

At 3 p.m. on Jan. 25, there will be another prismatic magic laser light show: Spring Jam and STEM Expansion.

The library concludes the month of January with WinterFest, a winter reading challenge celebration, which takes place on Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
This will be an all-ages celebration. Tea and trivia will be served at this fairy tale-themed event.
