The annual Robison/Sandoval Memorial baseball game is set to be played on Monday, Feb. 16 (Presidents’ Day) and is always a big hit. This family-friendly, fundraising event will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Moapa Valley High School (MVHS) baseball fields.
The game is held at the beginning of each baseball season to honor two MVHS alumni who played ball together during the 1998 through 2000 seasons and who both later passed away.
BJ Robison, son of Ben and Kay Robison, and Shawn Sandoval, son of Mark J. Sandoval and Lori Sandoval, were friends who loved the sport. Their families, along with the MVHS varsity baseball team and coaches, arrange the annual expo game pitting the MVHS varsity squad against an all-star alumni team.
The game raises money to continue the $1,000 baseball scholarship that is awarded each year to a senior baseball player on the MVHS team.
All are invited to come watch the action and support the families and teams in this lively and entertaining event. It is free to attend, but hot dogs, hamburgers, bakery goods and more will be available for purchase, as well as raffle tickets for prizes that have been donated.
