The Moapa Valley 4-H Teen Leadership Corps will host its 10th Annual Community Mental Health Fair on Friday, Feb. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., offering a free evening of connection, activities and mental health resources for youth and families.
Now in its tenth year, the fair has become a community tradition focused on promoting mental health awareness and connecting families with support.
The event will feature guest speaker Teresa J. Holzer, JD, who will present “Second Generation: Sharing Her Parents’ Stories of Persecution, Resilience and Survival of the Holocaust” from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
“Each year our 4-H Teen Leadership Corps youth plan this event to bring our community together to offer hope, connection and practical mental health resources for our local youth and families,” said Dianna Walker, 4-H advisor. “We’re honored to welcome our featured speaker, Teresa J. Holzer, JD, whose family story reflects remarkable resilience — including her parents’ survival of the Holocaust and their later life here in Overton, Nevada. It is incredibly meaningful to have such a powerful, lived example of resilience within our own community. I am especially proud of our 4-H Teen Leadership Corps and TLC youth, who have worked tirelessly to fundraise, plan and facilitate this event. Their hearts, leadership and dedication are truly inspiring.”
Following the presentation, attendees can enjoy a free Raising Cane’s chicken dinner, interactive games and activities, and access to mental health resources and support from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
The free community event is hosted in partnership with Clark County Parks & Recreation, MVCEAB, Moapa Valley High School, Mack Lyon Middle School, Moapa Valley Rotary, PACT Coalition, Hope Squad and UNR Extension 4-H.
Community members are encouraged to bring friends and family to connect, learn and be inspired.
