The 12th Annual Kids for Sports Foundation Golf Tournament Fundraiser was held at Wolf Creek Golf Club on Feb. 10. The foundation’s purpose is to give students the opportunity to play in the sport of their choice, with financial help for fees, uniforms, shoes, sports or any equipment needed.
Executive assistant Morgan Abbott gave a kickoff talk just before the 36 four-person teams started at different holes on the course simultaneously. She thanked everyone for participating and supporting the kids, including the many volunteers it took to make the tournament happen and all the sponsorships that were donated so generously.
The foundation and Wolf Creek always arrange plenty of fun for the participants. They provided a continental breakfast. Telson Tequila provided tastings on hole 6, while hole 17 warmed players up with Sazerac and Fireball. A fan favorite on hole 9 was Alex Gerdel and Rowdy’s Range Ball Launcher, and participants had a chance to win it.

“This KFS is one of the best charity functions of the year in Mesquite because it is so well-organized; they do an excellent job for the kids,”said returning participant Thomas Stark.
Abbott declared, “The Kids for Sports Golf Tournament was more than a day on the course. It was a powerful reminder of how deeply this community believes in its youth. With support from Mesquite, Moapa, St. George, Las Vegas and surrounding areas, the funds raised will open doors for young athletes, giving them the opportunity to build confidence, friendships and lifelong skills through sports. Thank you to every sponsor, golfer, volunteer and supporter who made this unforgettable day possible.”
