The 4-H Teen Leadership Corps hosted a community western Valentine’s dance on Saturday, Feb. 14, at the Clark County Fairgrounds Fine Arts Building.
The music for the dance was from a playlist featuring country songs along with popular swing dances, line dances and slow songs. The mix kept attendees of all ages dancing throughout the evening.
The event had a great turnout of over 100 community members, including adult volunteers to supervise the event.
Soda Papa’s was on site, selling drinks and treats to everyone in attendance, adding to the festive atmosphere.

“We hold meetings to discuss what refreshments to provide, how to handle donations, where to host the dance and music planning,” said Claire Dalley, dance committee chair. “It takes a lot of planning, but it’s worth it to bring everyone together.”
The event was supported through a partnership between UNR Extension 4-H Teen Leadership Corps, Clark County Parks and Recreation, Moapa Valley Educational Foundation and the PACT Coalition. The collaboration helps ensure that local youth have opportunities to participate in meaningful community events.
The 4-H Teen Leadership Corps is a youth-led organization made up of members ages 11 to 18. The club’s mission is to strengthen the community through service, leadership and raising awareness for mental health. By planning events like the Valentine’s dance, the group provides both fun and educational experiences for the entire community.
The current adult leaders of the organization are Wendy Mulcock, Dianna Walker and Lacey Tom, who support the teens in organizing and executing these events.
This Friday, Feb. 20, the group will host its tenth annual TLC mental health fair, continuing its long-standing tradition of promoting awareness and community engagement.
