The Moapa Valley High School swim team might be small, but there’s nothing small about the team’s goals. Moapa Valley has yet to make the NIAA Swimming and Diving record books, but the hope is that the girls relay team makes state.
Returning girls include seniors Maycee Andrus, Savannah Neel and Sadie Schulthies. Sophomore Robin Washburn also returns.
“This year’s team is going to achieve a lot of PRs (personal records). Our girls relay will hopefully make it to state. That is our ultimate goal as a girls team this year,” said Moapa Valley head coach Kristal Beckstrand. “Next year, hopefully, we will get a few more boys on the team and work on a relay and personal bests for them as well, along with some fresh members on the girls team so that we can fill in the gaps that will be left by our senior girls leaving.”
It is, effectively, a recruiting year for the MVHS swim team. The success of these seniors will play a big role in recruiting the next class of Pool Pirates.
