From February 25-26, Nevada FFA Winter Leadership Training was held in Mesquite for the first time in years. Normally held in Carson City, the Winter Leadership Training is hosted for all FFA students to learn valuable leadership skills and meet other members from chapters all over the state.
Split into two conferences — upperclassmen and underclassmen — leaders from the National FFA Association taught students about leadership. Both conventions had engaging themes that directly related to the lessons of the session. Students spoke with other students, worked together to solve problems and created important connections that will help impact their careers.
Jared Dunn, a speaker for the National FFA Organization and past Ohio State Vice President, hosted the underclassman conference. Its theme was the mission of leadership, “Mission Mackerel.” Throughout the conference, students were taught the many pathways of leadership and the qualities needed to be a successful leader. At the end of the conference, they were guided to create their own mission statements and take those with them throughout the rest of their lives.
