The Moapa Valley FFA Chapter had an outstanding showing at the 97th Nevada FFA State Convention, with students earning top honors across a wide range of competitions, leadership events and individual achievements.
Leading the way was Addysen Sherwood, who was elected as the Nevada FFA State President, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects both her dedication and leadership within the organization. Sherwood has been an active member of FFA for four years and underwent a highly competitive selection process. Over the course of the week, she completed eight interviews and submitted a detailed 21-page application. She was selected by a nominating committee made up of six FFA students from across Nevada. Two additional candidates from Nevada were selected to serve as state vice president and secretary.
As state president, Addysen will spend the year traveling throughout Nevada, visiting FFA chapters and representing the state at major events, including a trip to Washington, D.C., and attendance at the National FFA Convention this fall. Her election also marks a milestone for the chapter, as she is the first state president from the Moapa Valley FFA Chapter. The last state officer from the chapter was in 2019.
