March 19 saw the opening of Mesquite’s newest business, Side Hustle Vintage Thrift and New Trends. Owner Eilene Riviere was very excited to share her new cleverly decorated business space located at 660 Hardy Way, Unit 43.
The chamber of commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and Riviere showed off her products, wearing a vintage hat and dress.
Riviere said, “I have most of the artisans from Juniper Outpost contributing here. I have all kinds of fun unique stuff, like brothel creeper shoes for men. I have suppliers from Las Vegas and from California. Gina Tolley’s unique, one-of-a-kind fun fashions are available at Side Hustle. This is not a shop; it is a big, new-to-Mesquite concept located in a warehouse.”

Assisting Riviere in the warehouse are her husband George and 16-year-old Abby Hunt.
The day after the grand opening, they held a party complete with the Café Blues Band. Riviere reported 300-plus people attended. They plan to have more events, such as “Teen Night” and private shopping for social clubs and collabs with local charities.
The store is open to the public Fridays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., or anytime the roll-up door is open. However, you cannot see the roll-up door from the street; you must turn onto the property.
Riviere said, “It’s been my girlhood dream to open my own vintage shop. I grew up doing estate sales with my mother. Everyone has been so kind and encouraging. My soul truly lives at Side Hustle in Mesquite, and I want to share my joy with everyone.”
