There will be an observance of the 75th annual National Day of Prayer at the Virgin Valley High School Auditorium on Thursday, May 7, at 6 p.m.
On May 7, the country will pause to observe something historic and holy, especially as it coincides with our nation’s 250th anniversary. “This is not coincidental but providential,” said Dennis Lee, the event’s local coordinator.
This year’s theme is “Glorify God Among the Nations, Seeking Him in All Generations,” drawn from 1 Chronicles 16:24: “Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples.”
“On this day and at this time, we call for God’s people to set aside all denominational differences and come together to pray for our nation alongside local pastors and churches in the Virgin Valley community,” Lee said. “There isn’t a better time than right now, as we live in a period of unprecedented upheaval and violence, marked by weariness, frustration, division, anxiety and anger. Further, history reminds us that every true move of God is preceded by an outpouring of prayer.”
The ceremony will feature a presentation of the colors, songs from Mesquite Community Choir and prayers from many local pastors.
