Widely regarded as one of the top Aerosmith tribute bands, Aerosmyth lived up to its reputation before a large Casapoolooza crowd Saturday night, May 16. The band’s set featured many Aerosmith favorites. The first of two sets opened with “Back in the Saddle,” followed by “Going Down/Love in an Elevator” and the Beatles cover “Come Together.” Aerosmyth also performed the classic “Chip Away the Stone,” and the 1990s hit “Jaded.” “Walk This Way” closed the first set.

Aerosmyth was originally called Pump when it was formed in 2002 and took on its current name in 2007. They have played all over the world, have been featured on TV, and performed to large crowds on Fremont Street in Las Vegas and in Dodger Stadium. Aerosmith lead singer Steven Tyler has endorsed the band, and members of the original band have played onstage with Aerosmyth.

The second set opened with “Toys in the Attic” followed by “Cryin’.” An Aerosmyth tribute concert would not be complete without a great rendition of “Dream On,” which was performed late in the lineup, followed by “Sweet Emotion.” Gil T. Serrano does a great job playing Steven Tyler, and band founder Mike Rizzuto plays Joe Perry on lead guitar.

It was a beautiful, warm evening for the free Casapoolooza concert, with dancers in front of the stage all night. The disc jockey warmed up the crowd before the show and kept them dancing during the set break. The pool was full, as was the entire outdoor area. The DJ asked how many were from St. George, and he got a rousing ovation.

The CasaBlanca pool area has a new stage this year, with built-in lights and a great sound system. Once again, thanks to the CasaBlanca Resort and Casino for bringing great bands to Mesquite.
