Moapa Valley High School recognized the achievements of the Class of 2026 during its annual Senior Scholarship and Awards Night held May 12 at the Ron Dalley Theatre.

The evening honored graduating seniors for accomplishments in academics, athletics, leadership, community service, performing arts, agriculture and career readiness, while also celebrating the continued support of local donors and organizations that invest in student success.

According to presenters during the ceremony, this year’s graduating class received approximately $155,000 in scholarships, the highest amount recorded in the history of the event.

Scholarships were awarded through a wide variety of local organizations, memorial funds, businesses and community groups. Awards supported students pursuing college degrees, trade schools, military service and vocational careers, reflecting the diverse paths students plan to take after graduation.

Throughout the evening, presenters emphasized the importance of community involvement and service. Many scholarships recognized not only academic performance, but also leadership, perseverance, work ethic and a commitment to giving back to the Moapa Valley community.

Students were recognized in categories including four-year athletic participation, four-year science achievement, student council leadership, National Honor Society service, agriculture, performing arts and entrepreneurship. Additional honors highlighted students who demonstrated excellence in specific areas such as leadership scholarships, community service awards and career pathway achievements.

Several scholarships were also awarded in memory of former community members, continuing a tradition of honoring local legacies while supporting future generations. These memorial awards reflected the strong connection between the school and the broader Moapa Valley community.

Among the evening’s top academic honors, Matthew Marshall was named salutatorian for the Class of 2026. Valedictorians included Grant Conger, Hal Thompson, Janet Werner and Knox Whipple. Student body president Avery Jolly was also recognized for her leadership and service during the school year.

Dozens of community members participated as scholarship presenters throughout the ceremony, representing organizations including the Moapa Valley Rotary Club, Overton Power District No. 5, America First Credit Union, Moapa Valley Performing Arts Council, local agricultural organizations and numerous family memorial foundations.

As the ceremony concluded, the Class of 2026 was recognized for achievements shaped by years of dedication and the continued support of the Moapa Valley community.
