Submitted by Teresa Holzer, President Moapa Valley Community Education Advisory Board (MVCEAB)
The MVCEAB will host a special meeting Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Old Logandale School (OLSHACS), 3011 N. Moapa Valley Blvd.
This special, one-agenda-item meeting will provide a forum for our community to express concerns to our trustee, Lydia Dominguez, who will be in attendance and available to respond to questions regarding the facilities master plan (FMP) and its potential impact on Moapa Valley area schools and the proposed closure of W. Mack Lyon Middle School.
The meeting will be approximately 90 minutes long and is open to representatives from all schools, students, parents, teachers and staff. Community members at all levels are encouraged to attend.
The agenda will be posted in a timely manner pursuant to the open meeting law requirements. Highlights will feature a presentation addressing key data points not considered due to the unique situation and location of our valley, including out-of-state birth rates, local growth due to approved development projects and Lyon MS satisfying necessary occupancy rates.
It is anticipated that the majority of the meeting will be devoted to an open, moderated community forum, providing an effective platform for residents to be heard and receive direct responses from Trustee Dominguez. The goal of this meeting is to equip our trustee with concrete, data-driven information to support Moapa Valley’s positions at the trustee level, while creating a respectful and productive space for community dialogue. This will not be an adversarial meeting. District consulting firms and other personnel will not be present.
Your attendance is critical. Please save the date and encourage your fellow community members to attend.
