First responders across the Valley handled serious medical emergencies, vehicle crashes, fires, law enforcement incidents and wildland assignments during the latest reporting period, with crews responding to incidents along Interstate 15 and assisting with a major wildfire burning in Arizona.

Mesquite Fire Rescue

On June 27 at approximately 5:01 a.m., Mesquite Fire Rescue responded to a reported cardiac arrest. Rescue 11 and Rescue 12 responded to the incident, where the patient was pronounced deceased. The scene was turned over to the Mesquite Police Department.

Later that evening, at approximately 11:28 p.m., Rescue 11 responded to a reported assault. One patient was assessed and treated before being transported to Mesa View Regional Hospital.

On July 2, Mesquite Fire Rescue responded with Rescue 74 to a crash involving a U-Haul that struck the median on northbound Interstate 15 between the Valley of Fire and Moapa Valley. The crash shut down northbound travel around 6 a.m. while emergency crews worked the scene. A medical helicopter responded, and motorists experienced significant delays during the closure.

Mesquite Police Department

During the early morning hours of June 28, Mesquite Police officers responded to several incidents that resulted in arrests and enforcement action.

Shortly after midnight, officers responded to a domestic disturbance in the 200 block of Thompson Drive. According to the department’s activity log, one adult woman was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

At approximately 1:58 a.m., officers responded to the recovery of a stolen vehicle at the 76 Station on the 200 block of East Pioneer Boulevard. One man was arrested in connection with the incident.

Officers also responded to a loud party on the 800 block of Orion Lane during the early morning hours. One man was issued a citation.

Bunkerville Fire

During the evening hours of July 4, Bunkerville Fire was toned out for a report of bushes on fire. No additional information regarding the location, size or cause of the fire was available.

Beaver Dam Fire Rescue

On July 2 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Beaver Dam Fire Rescue responded to a single-vehicle rollover crash on northbound Interstate 15 near mile marker 8.

According to the department, the vehicle breached a chain-link fence in the median. Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene and investigated the incident. The vehicle’s sole occupant was transported by Beaver Dam Fire Rescue ambulance to St. George Regional Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Members of Beaver Dam Fire Rescue’s Wildland Fire Division also spent the Fourth of July holiday away from home while assisting with firefighting efforts on the Pocket Fire near Sedona, Arizona. As of the morning of July 4, the Pocket Fire had burned 25,160 acres and was 31% contained. A total of 1,089 personnel were assigned to the incident.
