While Americans celebrate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 2026,
few people realize that the historic document was first read publicly on July 8, 1776, inspiring citizens and
communities throughout the colonies.

To honor this important milestone in our nation’s history, community members of all ages are invited to gather for a special commemorative ceremony. The program will begin with the ringing of bells, symbolizing the historic call
that once summoned citizens to hear the Declaration read aloud. The Honor Guard will present the colors, followed
by a public reading of one of America’s most treasured founding documents.
