Members of the Moapa Band of Paiutes, along with members of other southwest tribal nations, completed a 58 mile, three day ‘cultural healing’ march last weekend in celebration of Earth Day. The march began early Friday morning at the tribal building on the Moapa Indian Reservation and ended on Sunday afternoon with a rally at the Lloyd George Federal Courthouse in Las Vegas.

It was a bright and sunny Saturday morning for Tank Day, and things heated up fast for the event that was held at the old army tank in downtown Overton. Tank Day is an annual fundraiser for the 4th of July fireworks display.
The Clark County Fairgrounds will be buzzing with excitement on Saturday, April 28 as the LDS Logandale Stake celebrates its 100th anniversary since being established. There event will offer the chance to see and learn many things about the history of the community and the opportunity to get reacquainted with old friends. Visiting, connecting with relatives, and learning the history of the stake and families is an important part of this free event.
The Moapa Valley High School Theatre performed last week in a production of Getting Away with Murder directed by MVHS Drama Instructor, Kenna Dalley.
The girls in the show were double casted. The senior girls participated on Tuesday and Thursday, while the underclassmen girls acted on Monday and Wednesday.

No one asked me but… The Clark County School District is facing a $64 million budget deficit that they hope to overcome by reducing teacher compensation by the same amount. While reducing teacher pay by $64 million, the district has indicated that they plan to expand the $84 million they spend annually on technology by an additional $65.1 million over the next five years.

Dr. Mike Gorman, of Moapa Valley Family Practice in Logandale, will be joining the Mesa View Medical Group in Mesquite on June 1.
In place of Dr. Gorman’s practice, the Mesa View Hospital will be opening a quick care clinic at the Wally’s Plaza, Logandale location. The clinic will have expanded hours with nurse practitioners seeing patients from 8 a.m. til 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
Joshua Bryce Lawter, son of Buck and Beth Lawter has been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will serve in the Vancouver, Canada Mission.

Valley of Fire State Park held its third annual Spring Classic Car Show on Saturday, April 21. About 14 classic car entries lined up at the lower parking lot of the Park Visitors Center starting at around 10:00 a.m.
