The Moapa Valley Art Guild presented its annual Spring Art Show and Sale at the Old Logandale School on March 13-14.
Many of the local artists have received recognition for their work. Susan Perez was presented the People’s Choice Award for her painting “Room With A View” at the Hot and Dusty Fine Art International in 2019 at the Lost City Museum.
Janet Trobough, also a member of the Mesquite Art Guild, recently received second place for that organization’s March Show “Blooming Colors.” There were 83 entries in that show.
The artists work in many medias to produce work for the exhibit. Jacqui Worthen used colored pencil in “Owl.” A watercolor/transparent was used by Kimberly Arkens in a “Flower Basket.” The unique needle felting of small animals were created by Wendy Bohl. Delightful earrings were created by Aimeelyn Potts. A remarkable “DaVinci Study” was created in graphite by Marya Romero Hoffman. The beautiful desert landscapes of Max Bunnell were also exhibited.
Throughout the event, various demonstrations were given – a Still Life scene captured in watercolor by Joy Lamb and oil pastels by Aimeelyn Potts and oil by Susan Perez. Also, an intriguing explanation of Needle Felting (using loose wool) by Wendy Bohl.
In addition to the two-day Show, the Art Guild members are featured artists of the month for March and April at the Lost City Museum.
