OBITUARY: Delacy Jo Peterson

Delacy Jo Peterson

Delacy Jo Peterson

Delacy Jo Peterson, age 28, returned to her loving Heavenly Father on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 where she was reunited with her dad. She was born to Kristin Delacy and Mark Verl Peterson on December 27, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. Her big brother Jaden was so excited to have a baby sister when she was born.

Delacy was a resilient and strong-spirited child. She was diagnosed with Type I Diabetes shortly after her first birthday. She was a fighter even though the illness was a challenge throughout her life.
Just before she began third grade, Delacy’s family moved to Logandale. She was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 11. Her family was sealed in the Las Vegas Temple for time and eternity on May 15, 2010.

She enjoyed being in Young Women’s and attended several summer girls’ camps and youth activities. She had faith in Heavenly Father and her Savior until the end of her life.

Delacy had a passion for dancing. She began dance class at four years old and continued
throughout elementary school. In seventh grade, she made the Mack Lyon Middle School dance team
where she truly blossomed. She remained on the dance team throughout middle school and high school and performed at many basketball and football games.

Along with her love for dance, Delacy also had a love for music. She was known to sing on repeat
around the house like a little songbird. She had a beautiful voice and her family loved to hear her sing.
She also learned to play cello in middle school and participated in many orchestra performances.

Delacy was a bright and talented girl. She graduated from Moapa Valley High School in 2013
and was on the honor roll for much of her education. She was funny and had a great sense of
humor. She was not afraid to act goofy just to get a laugh out of her family and friends.

Delacy had a beautiful contagious smile and bright, sparkling eyes. She had a kind, loving heart
and a remarkable gift for forgiving others. She was also trusting and patient. Her compassion led her to spend some of her adult life working as a server and a caregiver at an assisted senior living facility. She adored children and had dreams of becoming a mother. She loved her brothers, her little sister, and her nieces and nephew. She will be loved and missed by her whole family.

Delacy is survived by her mother, Kristin (Billy Spafford) of Logandale; her siblings: Jaden
Mark (Jessica) of St. George, UT, Halen Joseph of Mesquite, NV, and Waverly Rose of Logandale; her
grandparents: Joseph and Jolene Peterson of Richfield, UT, Stephen (Linda) Sorenson of Mendon, UT, Sandy Wakefield (Ted Peterson) of Layton, UT, and Barney (Barbara) Alverson of Roy, UT; her nephew and nieces: Holden, Lydia, and Amelia Peterson; and her dog, Odin. She will also be dearly missed by so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Mark Verl Peterson.

Funeral services will be held Friday, October 20 at 11AM at the Hinckley Chapel at 1505 Hinckley
Ave in Logandale. Visitation will be Thursday, October 19 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. and Friday, October 20 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the same location.
