The chamber orchestra involves eleven MVHS orchestra students that meet at the school on Monday through Friday at 6:00 a.m.. “They are a dedicated bunch of students that sacrifice their early morning time to represent the school,” said MVHS Orchestra director, Walter White.
The chamber orchestra received a second division rating, with the first rating being the highest position they could acquire. “They represented their school very well,” White commented on their performance. Five other high school students performed solos in Saturday’s festival. Grant Pray (cello) and Kenna McMurray (violin) each came away with a first division rating. Erin Hills (viola), Marya Romero (viola), and Shelby Simper (violin) received second division ratings. The Mack Lyon Middle School guitar students, also taught by White, performed in an ensemble as well. Their piece had to be committed to memory and they received a second division rating for their hard work. “It was a good day all around for the high school students and the middle school guitar,” White said. |
