The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) presented its prestigious Silver Beaver award to Logandale resident, Penn Leavitt, during the BSA-Las Vegas Council Annual Dinner held on February 20 in Las Vegas.
Leavitt has a long history in working with local youth through the boy scouts and in his church service. He is currently serving as a Committee Member of the Council’s Anasazi District and serves on that district’s Eagle Board of Review.
Leavitt’s record of service in Scouting includes Cubmaster, Assistant Scoutmaster, Scoutmaster, Explorer Leader, District Camp Director, and an instructor for Fast Start Training.
Leavitt has also served diligently in the community. He has served as a volunteer for the Clark County Fair and has been active in youth sports serving as a Little League coach and an eighth grade assistant football coach. Leavitt is very active in the LDS Church and has served in many leadership and service capacities.
As a boy, Leavitt was also very active in scouting. He earned his Arrow of Light Award as a Cub Scout and attained the Eagle Scout rank with two Palms.
The Silver Beaver Award is a national award given to Scouters who have shown exceptional character in providing time and leadership to local youth.
