The Progress
The Moapa Valley Chamber of Commerce held its annual membership mixer on Friday evening, March 24, at the Moapa Valley Senior/Recreation Center.
The purpose of this event was to showcase the Chamber to local business owners and to talk about how the organization can help promote businesses through its digital channels. Interested business representatives could also sign up for, or renew their, memberships.
Chamber President Bernie Conrique of Kuppa Joe Coffee Shop welcomed about two dozen people and made a short presentation. He showed attendees a few short marketing videos that two local businesses had made.
“One way to have further reach for potential clients and customers is to make a short video,” Conrique said. “We can then follow you on Tik Tok or Instagram, and all of our followers will be able to see your products and services.”
Chamber Secretary Amy Johnson explained the three tiers of Chamber membership. Tier 1, Buccaneer/Patriot is $65 per year and entitles companies to be listed on the Chamber website. Tier 2, Mariner, is $99 per year and also entitles businesses to link to business website Window Cling. Finally, Tier 3, Pirate, will cost $129 per year and will add links to a business website, logo on main page of Chamber website, a plaque, Facebook posts shared to Chamber’s page, 10% discount at Kuppa Joe, and intro video for Facebook.
A dinner of pizza and breadsticks was provided to attendees by Pirate’s Landing.
Then the fun and games began. Carol and Mike Vick of the senior center hosted Bingo games.
Each person in attendance was issued four bingo cards. There were variations of the games played. Winners were able to pick a prize from a prize table. All prizes were donated by local businesses.
Prizes included cash, a lawn & garden planter, sunglasses, fans, grill/griddle set, T-shirts, hats, gift certificates, drawstring bags, lanterns, totes, drink mugs and more.
Businesses represented at the Chamber dinner were: Xtreme Stitch, Number Crunchers, MVT, Lori Houston Realtor, Kuppa Joe, Mesquite Branding, Clark County Parks and Recreation, Marks Handyman Service, Moapa Valley Mortgage, The Progress, Fidelity National Title, Foremost Realty, The Rock Man Rocks, Legacy Insurance and Whitney’s Water.
A 50/50 raffle was held to benefit the MV Senior Center.
After all the prizes were disbursed, Conrique concluded the evening by addressing the crowd. “We would like to encourage everyone here to join us to make Moapa Valley a great place to live and make a living,” he said. “We want to work together and support each other.”
The 2023 Chamber of Commerce Board members are: President Bernie Conrique; vice-president Kasen Kolhoss; secretary Amy Johnson; treasurer Nicole Talbot; with Dustin Berg, Danielle Holliday and April Robinson as board members.
