Moapa Valley Progress
Have you ever wanted to plant a small orchard in your backyard? Now is your chance to attend a free overview class on small-scale and backyard orchard production. The class will be offered on Monday, March 17 from 7-9 p.m. at University of Nevada Cooperative Extension’s Education Building at 1897 N. Moapa Valley Blvd. via compressed video.
The overview will cover fruit production methods under hot, dry desert conditions. Other topics include the selection of fruit trees; proper planting and after care; how to get your fruit to size up; pest control; and a monthly calendar of operations to produce high quality fruit. Participants will be able to ask questions over the interactive video system.
The class instructor is Bob Morris, horticulture specialist for Cooperative Extension. The seminar is free to the public. Participants should call Cooperative Extension at 397-2604 to reserve a seat and insure that they get copies of handout materials.
