Last Wednesday the Overton Pool held their first Family Swim night. The Hawaiian Luau night was a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy the local pool together for a whole evening. For every adult who came to swim, one child got to get in the pool for free, giving the evening a family focus. The entire pool was decorated for the occasion, with Hawaiian flowers and decorations everywhere. “It’s hard to explain, other than it felt like a Hawaiian Luau,” said Pool Manager Kim Lyon. There were festive plates, cups and even hats for those not in the water. The featured activity of the night were diving board competitions. |

| There were competitors for the best “Canonball”, the biggest splash and the best flip, just to name a few. However despite the ongoing competitions, most in attendance just had fun swimming with their whole family.
“We always have people who really like to come for our evening swims because their whole family can come,”said Lyon. “There are a lot of dads who can come to swim in the evening because they don’t have to work, so it’s really a highlight of the swimming season.” |
