Early voting for the 2008 primary election began on Saturday, July 26, and will run through Aug. 8.
Early voting will be offered to registered Moapa Valley voters at the Overton Community center on Tuesday, August 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition, registered voters may vote at any one of the 22 early voting sites open daily throughout the county. They may also vote at their designated polling place on Primary Election Day on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Specific locations for early voting and their hours of operation are available through a link on the Election Department Web site at www.accessclarkcounty.com/elections
“Early voting has been a great success,” Clark County Registrar of Voters Harvard L. Lomax said. “Approximately half of all the voters who vote in the primary election will cast their ballots at a time and place that is convenient for them during the two-week early voting period.”
Clark County has offered early voting since 1996. Since 2000, more people have voted before Election Day – either by casting their ballots at early voting sites or by mail – than on Election Day.
People who are unsure if they are registered to vote in Clark County can check their registration status by entering their name and birth date in the Voter Information Lookup box on the front of the Election Department Website. People without access to the Internet may call the Election Department at 455-VOTE (8683). While it is too late to register to vote in the primary election, people can still register to vote in the Nov. 4 general election.
