4H To Hold Leaders’ Forum

4-H volunteers from across Nevada will come together on March 13-14 to share ideas about their local 4-H programs at the Nevada 4-H Leaders’ Forum in Fallon at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

The forum, supported by the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension and Monsanto, will bring 4-H volunteers together to network and learn about innovative programs that will help bring fresh perspectives and activities to 4-H programs across the state.

“Whether you are a new leader, have been involved with 4-H for three, 10, or 25 years, or you’re a teen or junior leader for a project club, community club, after school program or military program or other youth groups in rural and urban communities, you’ll learn new things, meet new people, and come away feeling re-energized about 4-H,” said Jill Tingey, 2009 Nevada 4-H Leaders’ Forum Chair.

Leaders will participate in four different workshops and general sessions throughout the weekend. Topics include: Energy Education, Starting 4-H AfterSchool Programs, Parliamentary Procedure, Sewing, Felting, Making Soaps and Lotions, 4-H Farmers’ Markets, Challenge and Adventure Activities, Animal Science – Dog, Horse, Rabbits and Cavies, Sheep, Project Ideas for Club Meetings, Leadership, and much more.

In addition to skill-building workshops, the event will feature keynote speaker John Owens, Nevada State Fair manager; a hot air balloon; Taste of Nevada Dinner; Share Fair; and an awards banquet honoring volunteers.
